Explora Books will host a book signing with author S. Naomi Main at the 2026 Frankfurter Buchmesse, held October 7–11 at Messe Frankfurt in Hessen, Germany.
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, 1st Oct 2026 - Fair attendees are invited to visit Hall 4.2 M47 on October 10 at 10 a.m. to meet Main and obtain signed copies of the two books of her memoir series, An American Girl: The Letters Between Us and An American Girl: The Letters He Never Sent.

The two books span nearly five decades of the couple’s life together. Book One begins in late 1968, when Mark, a young soldier on four weeks’ leave before deploying to Vietnam, meets Sharon, a shy teenager already committed to a first love. Their courtship unfolds through letters during Mark’s deployment, while Sharon faces the death of her first love in combat and a Dear John letter that nearly ends their relationship. The book also describes a painful separation in the mid-1970s. Each chapter takes its title from a classic song of the era. The first book closes with Main’s reflection: “I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.”
Book Two continues the couple’s story, which Main presents as part of a divine plan encompassing their meeting and marriage. The author describes their life as one of hospitality and their home as a place of rejuvenation. Their Cedar Chalet is a gathering place for family and friends. Book Two also follows the family they built with “adopted” sons and daughters, as well as challenges many face in life, including a cancer journey that Main connects to Mark’s time in Vietnam. Main recounts these experiences through reflections on faith, family, and loss before concluding with her life after Mark’s passing.
S. Naomi Main is a retired public school employee. She lives in the home that she and Mark moved into in 1979 with her cocker spaniel, Ellie, and black cat, Ned Pike. Main first visited Germany with her family in 1962 and lived there for fourteen months, making the 2026 signing a return to a country she learned to love more than six decades ago.
Both books in the An American Girl series will be available at the Explora Books booth, Hall 4.2 M47, throughout the fair, with the author scheduled to sign copies on October 10 at 10 a.m.
An American Girl: The Letters Between Us and An American Girl: The Letters He Never Sent are available through Amazon and other major online bookstores.
